BA (Hons), La Leche League Leader
I’ve been steeped in breastfeeding since giving birth to my eldest son in 2005. I suddenly transformed into one of those women who needed to make this work! By the time my second son arrived in 2008 I had discovered La Leche League and realised that others felt as passionately about the world of breastfeeding as I did. My work within LLLGB over the last two decades has covered lots of teams, initially helping run the book and leaflet store, then the online Help-forms team, the Leader Accreditation team, and the District Co-ordinator team. My passion has definitely been honed into the importance of counselling skills and I’ve completed the Communications Skills Train the Trainer course with LLL. I love watching this skill blossom with new breastfeeding counsellors.
I’ve been exceptionally lucky to be part of the transformation of the Health Visiting Service in the imbedding of a new Infant Feeding Team in Cornwall over the last three years. As a region with some of the most deprived areas in the UK, we know how crucial it can be for breastfeeding to succeed both from a financial but also from a health perspective. Since our team started in 2023, we have seen both declines in re-admission for feeding issues in the first month and increases in the breastfeeding at six weeks rates too.
I’m really excited to be working alongside the team at CBER.
