BA (Hons), La Leche League Leader, IBCLC

I’ve been steeped in breastfeeding since giving birth to my eldest son in 2005. I suddenly transformed into one of those women who needed to make this work! By the time my second son arrived in 2008 I had discovered La Leche League and realised that others felt as passionately about the world of breastfeeding as I did. I accredited in 2009 as a Leader (breastfeeding counsellor) with LLLGB.
My work within LLLGB since then has covered lots of teams, initially as part of the book and leaflet store, then the online Help-forms team, the Leader Accreditation team, and the District Co-ordinator team. My passion has definitely been honed into the importance of counselling skills and I’ve completed the Communications Skills Train the Trainer course with LLL. I particularly love watching this skill blossom with new breastfeeding counsellors.
Since 2023 I’ve been exceptionally lucky to be part of the transformation of the Health Visiting Service in Cornwall in the imbedding of a new Infant Feeding Team. As a region with some of the most deprived areas in Europe, we know how crucial it can be for breastfeeding to succeed both from a financial but also a health perspective. Since our team began work, we have seen declines in re-admission for feeding issues in the first month and increases in the breastfeeding at six weeks rates too. I am also proud to have accredited as an IBCLC in 2026.
I’m really excited to be working alongside the team at CBER.
